Glass surfaces in the conservatory are covered with the opaque d-c-fix® Charis window film.

DIY privacy screen: Charis window film is a charming way of ensuring more privacy!

Project from Angelina -

Generously proportioned windows, large patio or balcony doors, floor-to-floor windows or conservatories are wonderful and mean every room can be flooded with light. However, finding an effective privacy screen that doesn’t break the bank can be a challenge. Nevertheless, we have the perfect, easy-to-implement solution:

An effective privacy screen can be made in no time at all with d-c-fix® Charis static premium window film. The subtle white continuous ornamental design with a 3D effect also gives it a rather smart appearance. The major advantage of this solution for greater privacy is that the opaque d-c-fix® Charis film adheres statically ‒ this makes it simple to apply and remove again.

Stylish privacy screen: it’s super easy with d-c-fix® Charis window film!

You will need…

  • A roll of d-c-fix® static premium Charis film
  • d-c-fix® application kit with doctor blade and cutter
  • Scissors

  • Measuring tape
  • d-c-fix® mounting liquid / spray bottle with water
  • Cloth (to clean)

Let’s go

Step 1

Measure the dimensions of the glass surface to be covered. Transfer these onto the backing paper on your Charis film. Now cut the film to size by subtracting 2–3 mm spacing from the window seals on all sides when cutting.

Step 2

Now it’s time to prepare the window: Thoroughly clean the glass surface so it’s completely free of dust and dirt of any kind. Then spray the glass surface generously with water / d-c-fix® application fluid until no more dry areas are visible.

Step 3

Now detach the backing paper from the Charis film and attach it to the window – make sure that there is sufficient spacing from the window seals.

Step 4

When you have the film in the correct position, use the doctor blade to smooth out the application fluid / water between the glass surface and the window film. The simplest way to do this is to lightly press from the center outwards. Finally, use a cloth to dry the pane – your Charis privacy screen is now ready!

You’re done!
