Renovation made easy! 6 steps to your dream kitchen

Project from Chris -

Would your kitchen be actually quite nice if you didn’t have the ugly tiles on the wall?

We have a solution as to how you can renovate your kitchen simply and easily without having to call in a tradesman or replace the tiles. Your kitchen will shine in a completely new light with a classically beautiful wallpaper design like d-c-fix Ceramics Ancona. In addition, you maintain the attractive tiled look thanks to the embossing on the wallpaper.

You will need…

  • 4 metres of d-c-fix® Ceramics Ancona blue wallpaper (F2700154); depending on the size of your kitchen
  • Fixing and universal adhesive
or Ceramics power special wallpaper paste
  • Brush

  • Ruler
  • Cutter knife
  • Cloth to clean the wall
  • Filler if necessary

Let’s go

Step 1

Remove dirt, dust and moisture from the surface to which the wallpaper is to be applied. You can remove larger bumps, holes and cracks with an appropriate filler. The joints of the tiles can be easily covered with adhesive.

Measure the wall behind your kitchen cabinets and cut the d-c-fix wallpaper to the appropriate length and width.

Step 2

You will have to proceed in different ways depending on whether or not your surface is absorbent.

Spray the surface with a little water. If the water runs down the wall with being absorbed, the surface is non-absorbent. If the surface immediately turns dark in colour, it is absorbent.

Step 3

Coat the back of the wallpaper with ceramics wallpaper paste if you have an absorbent surface. Then fold the wallpaper over on itself and leave it to soak for approx. 10 minutes.

Skip this step and continue with step 4 if the surface is non-absorbent.

Step 4

Coat strips of the wall with Ceramics adhesive if the surface is non-absorbent.

Step 5
Now apply the first strip of your d-c-fix wallpaper to the wall. If you are applying several strips, you need to make sure that the strips are butt joined.

Step 6
Press the strips firmly onto the wall. Make sure that you press firmly, especially at the corners of the wallpaper.

You’re done!
