Idea for kids’ room: Night light with moon ensures sweet dreams!

Project from Alex -

Moon and starry glow! Here comes a brilliant DIY idea for the nursery: the DIY round wall lamp with crescent moon in a bright concrete look brings a little piece of starry sky into the nursery with fantastic light effects. It creates a relaxing atmosphere in the evening to help the little ones fall asleep – sweet dreams included! Our tutorial will show you how to craft this chic wall lamp.

You will need…

  • d-c-fix® Sanremo light oak
  • d-c-fix® Concrete white
  • d-c-fix® tool kit with utility knife & scraper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Plywood board
  • Compass

  • Dremel and various wood drill bits
  • Jigsaw
  • Two elongated wooden beads
  • Wood glue
  • Fairy lights with batteries
  • Adhesive tape

Let’s go!

How to craft the wall lamp with moon and starry sky:

Step 1

Draw a large circle on the plywood.

Step 2

Cut out the circle from the board using the jigsaw.

Step 3

Now place the cut-out circle onto the backing paper of the Sanremo light oak adhesive foil and trace the outline onto it in pencil.

Step 4

Now transfer the circle onto the back of the Concrete white adhesive foil. Using the compass, draw a second smaller circle on the backing paper to make a crescent moon.

Step 5

Trim both pieces of adhesive foil to size.

Step 6

Now peel off the backing paper from the circle of wood-look adhesive foil, position the foil on the wooden board and smooth it down firmly. Then apply the half-moon adhesive foil in the same way.

Step 7

Next, you can drill as many different-sized holes as you wish in the part of the lamp board without the crescent moon.

Step 8

To later hang the lamp at a slight distance from the wall, now glue the two wooden beads onto the back of the plate as spacers using wood glue.

Step 9

Once the glue has dried, you can attach the fairly lights on the back. For a beautiful glow, it is best to position the fairly lights in a spiral arrangement and fasten well with strips of adhesive tape.

You’re done!
