Nordic Elm – the darling of DIY king Mark Kühler

Project from Mark -

Today I’ll show you how I pimped an entire kitchen with the Nordic Elm decorative film foil d-c-fix® in no time at all. I’m a great fan of stone and wood, everyone has probably noticed that by now – and that’s why I love this bright elm decor to pieces! It just creates such a cozy, warm atmosphere. The cool d-c-fix® designs always guarantee a modern look and feel. And it’s so fun to work with it because the awesome result is right there.

With a new surface you can turn the entire kitchen on a dime – from rustic to loft style. This is not only sustainable, it also protects your wallet! The Nordic Elm decorative foil is currently my absolute favorite because it brings light and modernity into the room. That lets me start from a modern basis. For eye-catching details I play with different products, for example with the Tisa ceramic foil in a brick pattern – but one at a time!

Now I’d like to show you how I’ve made the kitchen cabinets look nice. The same procedure applies to all decorative foils and it’s very easy, you’ll see!

Just 8 steps to a designer kitchen with decorative foils

You will need…

  • Several rolls of d-c-fix® Nordic Elm
  • The d-c-fix® tool kit with squeegee and cutter
  • Scissors

  • Pencil
  • Measuring tape or yardstick

Let’s go

Step 1

Get the tools ready within easy reach. All you need is a cutter, a yardstick, and a squeegee. Sounds great, right? Do a lot with a little, is what I always say. Now carefully measure the areas to be covered and cut the necessary strips off the roll with about 4 mm extra. The practical grid divisions on the back of the foil let you draw everything out exactly.

Step 2

Now remove just a small strip from the paper side on the back of the film, so nothing will stick too early. That lets you avoid nerve-wracking corrections. You set the pace, so go, go, go.

Step 3

Now simply stroke it into place from the top and then from the middle to the bottom, gradually removing the paper on the back of the foil. Stay calm. Just cut any excess foil away cleanly with a cutter or scissors.

Step 4

Expert tip: Bubbles can always form, but they generally don’t. You can always use a very fine needle to puncture the bubble and then push the air out.

Step 5

Always allow the film to stick out a little, pulling it tightly over the edges from the middle, and finish the contours with the squeegee.

Step 6

Screw the handles into the existing holes. Quick and easy!

Step 7

Stick on all surfaces as described above. And don’t forget: Always drink a lot of water. My nerves … 😉 That was easier than it looks – and it went super fast.

Step 8

Now just put the finished parts back and the new kitchen is ready. Tada!

You’re done!
