The vinyl decking membrane is lacquered (topcoated) that provides a protective top surface that provides durability and resistance against wear, scratches, stains, and fading. It acts to protect the underlying layers of the membrane.

The lacquer (topcoat) is designed to perform with normal wear via walking on the surface. It can be compromised by dragging heavy and/or sharp objects across the surface. This is most noticeable by scratching and removing the pattern (topcoat and ink).
