Table covered with black chalkboard foil with a stainless steel rail holding three containers of colored chalks.

DIY for the playroom: A top-of-the-line drawing table that delivers on its promise!

Project from Cintia -

Scribbling, drawing, writing – spontaneous expression in color: Huge fun for children. And we have the perfect DIY for it. The new favorite for every playroom: A small table – used or new, like the Lack model from Ikea – covered with the erasable d-c-fix® Chalkboard Foil, a creative surface for all kinds of ideas in chalk. Plus a rail for tool holders – and you have the liveliest drawing and craft table ever!

You will need…

  • d-c-fix® Chalkboard foil
  • d-c-fix® Ceylon yellow
  • d-c-fix® Signal Red
  • d-c-fix® Royal blue
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

  • Tape measure
  • Utility knife
  • Scraper
  • Cordless screwdriver
  • Stainless steel rod
  • Containers for hanging

Let’s go

Step 1

Measure the top and transfer the measurements to the backing paper of the board foil.

Step 2

Cut the foil to size and peel off part of the backing paper.

Step 3

Now apply the adhesive film to the edge of the tabletop and use the scraper to press it firmly down a centimeter at a time.

Step 4

Now measure the containers all around to determine the required foil area. Transfer the dimensions to the backing paper of the relevant colored adhesive foil.

Step 5

Now cut the yellow, red and blue foil pieces to size. Then peel off the backing paper of the first foil and use the scraper to press it around the first container – then cover the other two in the same way.

Step 6

Now screw the stainless steel rod to the edge of the top with the cordless screwdriver, and hang the three colorfully covered containers.

You’re done!

Chalkboard foil, three colorful adhesive foils, chalks, scissors, tape measure, utility knife, scraper, cordless screwdriver, stainless steel rod and three round containers on a top.
